Understand the difference between website languages, speech recognition and translation output.
Website display language, recording language, translation language, and caption display are separate settings. Recording settings offer automatic detection or Chinese, English, Japanese, and Korean. Choose no translation or a target language independently; automatic detection also retains Chinese–English two-way translation. Choosing the same source and target gives original-only transcription. Use the current controls to confirm the available selection; language options are not an accuracy guarantee.
Check languages and captions
Open language settings in your class and check the recording source and translation target separately. Changes apply when the connection starts or reconnects, rather than relabelling previous captions.
Start recording with an eligible account and read the original and available translation in Class captions. Website display language alone does not change the recording configuration.
For a simpler reading view, open floating captions and choose Original + translation, Original only, or Translation only. These choices change display only.
Does changing the website language change speech recognition?
No. Display language, recording source, translation target, and caption display are independent. Choose the recording and translation settings explicitly; changes take effect at a connection boundary.
Does live translation play translated audio?
Text captions do not automatically start audio. Spoken translation has a separate opt-in control, availability, and allowance. Follow its current status; floating-caption language choices only change the text display.
